Frequently Asked Questions

How much light does a fiddle leaf fig need?

A lot. Give it bright light for most of the day, close to a large window. Some direct morning sun is fine and helps it grow. In low light it drops leaves and grows tall and thin.

How often should I water a fiddle leaf fig?

Water thoroughly when the top two inches of soil are dry, then let the extra drain away. Both soggy soil and long dry spells cause brown spots and leaf drop.

Why is my fiddle leaf fig dropping leaves?

Common causes are a recent move, cold drafts, too little light and over- or underwatering. Fiddle leaf figs dislike change, so find a bright spot and leave it there.

Is fiddle leaf fig toxic to pets?

Yes. Its milky sap can irritate a cat’s or dog’s mouth and stomach, so keep it out of reach of pets that chew plants.
