Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I water a snake plant?

Let the soil dry out completely, then water deeply. That’s often every two to three weeks in spring and summer and once a month or less in winter.

Can a snake plant live in low light?

Yes. It tolerates low light better than most houseplants, though it grows faster and stays sturdier in bright, indirect light.

Why is my snake plant drooping?

Drooping or falling leaves are most often caused by overwatering and root rot. Too little light and a pot that’s too large can also make leaves flop.

Is snake plant toxic to pets?

Yes, mildly. It contains saponins that can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea in cats and dogs if they chew the leaves.
